Wallpaper has come such a long way in the last few years! There are now so many gorgeous print options and creative ways to install it so that every room feels unique and special. In this roundup post I’ve collected several of my wallpaper accent wall projects. I’ve used wallpaper in different ways to show you how fun and easy it is to add a pop of interest to your space! Also included is a super easy and budget-friendly alternative to wallpaper! Let’s get started.
DIY Framed Wallpaper Nursery Mural
Let’s begin with my own Suleiman’s nursery makeover! I installed the Watercolor Blue Grey Cloud Wallpaper mural that I received from Anewall as part of a collaboration. This wallpaper is amazing but I felt that I needed to add something to it. So, I decided to frame it in with trim and make it the main feature wall of the nursery. I absolutely love how it turned out! Visit my blog post for a materials list and full instructions.

Modern Boho Farmhouse Guest Room Makeover
Welcome to my guest room makeover! For this room I was going for a modern boho farmhouse-y look, if you know what I mean? I knew I wanted an accent wall, but I didn’t want to do the traditional dark paint or shiplap. I wanted something different and UN-expected. So, a wallpaper accent wall! I used Milton and King’s stunning Heritage Tile wallpaper available HERE and I am so excited about how it turned out! It gives the perfect pop of pattern and colour. I used their website to determine how much wallpaper I needed to purchase AND for a tutorial on properly installing it. Both the calculator and tutorial turned out to be exactly right. Check out my post for all the details on my project and how I accessorized the room for a perfect boho farmhouse look. Then visit Milton and King’s website to see all the amazing wallpaper options they carry!

Kids’ Bedroom Wallpaper Accent Wall
I love a good map, don’t you? When @photowall_sweden asked me to feature their wallpaper, I knew I had to do a fun room for my nephew, Azlan. He loves animals and learning everything about them and @photowall_sweden has this adorable map of the world, wildlife edition! You can customize it to fit any wall size, and I found the installation to be the easiest of any wallpaper I’ve installed to date. It took me just over an hour to get this whole wall done. Azlan’s reaction was adorable! You can use the discount code mintcandy25 for 25% off AND Free shipping from Photowall!

Kids’ Playroom Wallpaper Accent Wall
I recently made some upgrades to my daughter’s play area, and one of them was putting up this cute wallpaper accent wall! This beautiful wallpaper by @anewalldecor is called Leo’s Library (originally seen in @jillian.harris basement play area) and oh my goodness, it’s so perfect. I love that I achieved a fun library look without all the work of actual shelves! This paper is a pre-pasted product, so all I had to do was roll on some water to activate the glue and put it up. I did this all by myself in about an hour! Come see how easy it was to install and how lovely it looks @mintcandydesigns!

$0 DIY Sponge Wall Powder Room Makeover
I know I’ve been raving about wallpaper and everything it can do. However, I know that sometimes we just don’t feel like it or don’t have the money. So, if you are looking for a fun way to add a pop of interest to your walls that doesn’t involve just a plain paint job or a wallpaper installation, try sponge painting! In this post I’m showing you how I took my tiny builder grade powder room and made it fancy and unique with just a regular dish sponge and some leftover paint. This technique was easy and fun. I think I achieved the high end look of a bespoke custom wallpaper without the price tag! Come read the full post and see how I did it. Cardboard cutout Rainbow Bathroom Makeover
This is another little bathroom makeover I did with leftover paint for my daughter’s room! This ensuite was attached to her rainbow room in our old house – so it only made sense to continue the rainbow theme to the bathroom! First, I attached some mdf panels to the wall to create a board and batten (you can learn how to board and batten here) I used a semi-circle cut out from cardboard (an amazon shipping box!) and using a flat craft paint brush, painted the top rainbow. I painted the outer shape in a staggered grid across the bathroom. Next, using a thinner flat craft brush, I painted the second colour. Once that was dry, I went in with the third colour, and voila a painted rainbow wallpaper look for FREE!

There you go, some fun wallpaper (or wallpaper-esque) ideas to give you inspiration for your own space. I would love it if you shared your wallpaper accent wall pics with me @mintcandydesigns!
