DIY Sundae Bar | Eid Gift Basket

Ramadan and Eid

As you all probably understand by now, Eid is such a special time of celebration for our community! This day of breaking the fast of Ramadan is so important to us, and I love making it fun and memorable for all our friends and family that join us either in person in our home or as part of our neighbourhood celebration. Today, I’m going to share with you a simple but brilliant DIY sundae bar Eid gift basket the entire family can enjoy!

I love giving out gifts as part of Eid! However, this year I was looking for something different than what I usually do for the people attending the dinner in our home. Small toys and candy and chocolate can add up to so much clutter quickly when you are giving gifts to each child, and I was just feeling like it had all been done before anyway.

I was browsing online for ideas and came across this Dash Mini Waffle Bowl Maker. The wheels began to turn in my head, and I realized that because they are reasonably prices and fairly small in size, these waffle bowl makers would be an affordable item to base a sundae bar themed gift basket around! I ordered eight of them and got to work building the rest of my basket. Then, went to the dollar store and bought some pretty yet sturdy wire-framed baskets to hold everything. I layered the baskets with the Amal tissue from Blissful Eid. Then I found items that I think most people would enjoy putting on an ice cream sundae:

  • Mini M&Ms
  • Mini Oreos
  • Wafer cookies
  • Hot fudge sauce
  • Sprinkles
  • Chocolate spoons
  • Sugar cone topping

You get the idea! I also bought some cute little mason jars at the dollar store. I will fill these with the sugar cone topping that I bought in a larger bag at the grocery store. And of course, I included napkins too!

I also included a custom card wishing each family Eid Mubarak and added some information about Eid that I am sure the kiddos will love reading. You can also include this card in your eid baskets for your muslim and non-muslim friends!

I love several things about this basket. It is a gift the entire family can enjoy together. I can make one basket that covers an entire family, therefore, I spend less time and money shopping for individuals. It’s actually something useful and fun that our friends can keep and use multiple times. I also love that this idea works either as a gift for people coming to our home, or as a gift to the neighbours if we choose to celebrate Ramadan or Eid this way!

If you recall, I recently shared an iftar grazing box idea. This sundae bar basket could be another idea for getting out there and meeting your neighbours! If you are a non-Muslim person who loves the idea of celebrating Eid with your Muslim neighbours, just remember that to be truly enjoyed, all items included in your basket need to be halal, meaning, permissible.  No alcohol, pork, or gelatin products please. The list I have created here is halal, so you can’t go wrong by copying it!

I hope I have sparked some inspiration for your own Eid gift plans this season with this DIY sundae bar gift basket idea. Tag me @mintcandydesigns to show me what you come up with! Eid Mubarak everyone!
