Hello friends! I am so excited to bring you Its a Wonderful House Fall Tablescape Tour, a fall tablescape blog hop, with some incredibly talented bloggers! If you are here from Lynn of Living Large in a Small House , welcome and thanks for stopping by!
Let me start off by saying that I am not very good at tablescapes of any kind so this was definitely a challenge for me! I knew I wanted to incorporate books in some way, but wasn’t sure how! I was flipping through some of my old books that I had recently purchased at Value Village and I thought hmm how about pages as a “runner of sorts” – but I couldn’t bring myself to rip a book because I love books and ripping them just seemed.. wrong? If that makes any sense. Anyway, I found a book in my pile that was pretty much falling apart and I could justify teasing it apart hehe.
I stayed with the same colours, I had used in our entryway (as seen HERE) – muted mint and white pumpkins, sprigs of greenery to add warmth and added pops of navy and some cute copper knick knacks I also got from a recent trip to the thrift store. I also added these copper “pumpkins”.. Funny story – I bought these at homesense in a pack last year for like $7 and spray painted them copper this year.. but I think they are actually faux garlic and not pumpkins.. oh well! now they are copper pumpkins right.. lets pretend they are at least. I also added some vintage bottles in for that extra texture and depth to the tablescape. Essentially, the main trick to this tablescape was layer after layer and playing around until I got to the look I wanted.
As the final cherry on the cake, I added this adorable mini sign by the talented Bexley Boys who make the most adorable little signs ever! You must check them out!
Our blue china, that is really my mother-in-law’s, really came in handy to help with the whole blue theme going on in the dining room! For the place setting, I kept it quite simple, because lets be real, this room is barely ever used as a dining room but more as a storage room hehe.. so a bare bones place setting it is! I used book pages as a “napkin” if you will, and these cute wooden leafs that were part of a garland I got from Homesense – again I spray painted them copper using Rustoleum Spray Paint in Hammered Copper. And a little chocolate never hurt no body right? 😉
To add to the general decor, I painted these vintage pocket doors (salvaged from a family friend’s home renovation a couple of years ago) in Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and put them up to visually extend the windows and add some interest to that back wall. I also made the “magnolia book wreath’s” (Tutorial coming soon!) to add a touch of vintage books there too 🙂 I have linked similar book wreath’s in the sources below if you want to purchase ready made ones from some talented folks!
Thats all from me over here and my book inspired table scape! Head on over to Janet at Rosemary and Thymeto check out what Janet has been up to in her stunning fall tablescape.. its a good one guys and you don’t want to miss it out!

Your blue and white tablescape is beautiful! I love the old book pages used as a runner. They give an “old world” feel to the centerpiece. Very pretty!
I love, love, love everything about your tablescape. My day job is working for a major book publishing company and I love books. I collect old books and like you would be hard pressed to tear one apart unless it’s already on its last leg. Decorating with the pages is genius. To me it just says “timeless and classic”.
It is nice to meet you. Your fall table is beautiful. I think you did a phenomenal job! I love your creativity. The book runner is genius. It adds a nostalgic element that combined with the coppery accessories and pretty florals bring lots of interest. Love those pretty plates too.
It was fun joining you on this blog hop. Have a wonderful autumn!
Never say you aren’t good at doing something at home! 🙂
Your table is beautiful. I love using old books for things too. Your table runner is so pretty! I’m pinning to my Book Page Crafts Pinterest board (try to say that three times fast) and tablescapes. Love it!
Oh my goodness you did a wonderful job with your table! I also don’t consider myself to be a “tablescaper” so it is a challenge for me on these hops! I think yours looks beautiful. I love the bookpages. I purchased a book at Dollar Tree and made book page leaves for my table and mantel, but I felt like I was doing something wrong cutting it up, so lucky for you you had an old book that was falling apart 🙂 I feel like you gave the old book new life and appreciation of it’s beauty by repurposing it as a table runner. I am a music teacher in additon to home decor blogger so I like using old sheet music in this way too.
I love your blue hydrangeas and little copper pumpkins. That is such a pretty color combo!
What a gorgeous wood table you have! I love the idea of book pages for a runner, and your copper painted pumpkins are darling. You created a lovely tablescape.
[…] love decorating with non traditional fall colours. In the past I have done a blue and copper theme which turned out to be beautiful. This year I went with jewel tones and blush for my home, and […]
[…] I have going, and I will say that I look a good contrast with blue. In the past years, I have done a blue and copper tablescape. I used some of the same elements this year, and only purchased new floral stems from the Dollar […]
