well… this is a bit alarming. We moved to a new home in September and I am just getting around to talking about it. We also had a baby in October so I will say that along with unpacking some 100+ boxes has kept me busy.
A little back story.. we purchased our new home as a pre-construction new build in 2019 pre-pandemic. We had always known our last home was NOT our forever home and a starter home for us to get into the insanely ridiculous Toronto housing market 5 years ago. 2021 was the year we knew we would be moving, primarily to a better school district as Liyana enters grade school. We listed our last home for sale on July 29, and 5 days later we had accepted an offer that not only gave us what we asked for in price but also met our closing date requirements!
On September 14, we got the keys to our new home and I did a full empty home tour HERE on Instagram! Since then, I have been busy unpacking boxes, setting up, and nesting… all while 36 weeks pregnant at the time! At around 38 weeks, we finished unpacking the house and put a pause on all that while we waited for the baby to arrive.
Our little baby boy arrived at 39 weeks and 5 days and is such a bundle of joy! I am now 3 weeks postpartum today and have slowly started to pick up on some home things that were pending.
In today’s post I am sharing our kitchen with you because it is truly the heart of the home and as we settle in, this space is the most complete – still barring that our fridge, dishwasher, and microwave trim kit are backordered. However, it is all about the journey, and I wanted to share that with you today!
This is where the kitchen was in august and this is where we are now!
We still have to source the perfect counter stools for here but I will take this progress for now!
I also added a little breakfast area by the window in the kitchen. The table is the Seno Oak Dining Table from Article – if you shop using this link, you will get $50 off an order of $200 or more! The chairs are from Structube, while the rug is the Kamran Coral rug by Ruggable! This breakfast area is so key for our family in the mornings as we get ready for the work/school day!
