Hellooo friends! Welcome to week 2 of the One Room Challenge (ORC)! If you missed the first post, no worries! You can check it out HERE.
I hope you have had an amazing week, and I am here to report that I accomplished my goal for the first week – installing the light fixture and painting the room! I shared the whole process on Instagram Stories.
So just to recap: The light fixture I chose is one from decor steals. Now you may ask, why did I chose it?
Well… it was convenient and cost effective because it was sitting in my basement for over a year! I purchased it last summer in the hopes of installing it in our kitchen. However, it doesn’t have as much light as I would like for the kitchen area, so it ended up in the basement. While I was preparing for the ORC, one day I wandered into the basement and saw this light fixture just hangin’ out looking all lonely. That was the day its fate was decided!
The second task for this week was to paint the room. Now, we already chose a colour – Benjamin Moor Beau Green as per popular vote in my stories after I sampled 4 colours! You guys LOVED Beau Green and almost unanimously voted for this. I painted the first wall, and then I felt it was too “incomplete”.
What does that even mean, Areeba? Its a wall – how can it be incomplete. Now, if you remember from Week One, I mentioned that the room has NO complete walls and theres either a door or a window in each of the 4 walls. So the wall that I wanted to be my feature wall, has a closet door in it making it not as big of a statement wall as I wanted.
So, in the spur of the moment, I decided to paint the adjacent wall the same colour. You know, just ‘cuz. And now we have an accent corner! I painted the other two walls Sherwin Williams Alabaster as that is the white that is used throughout my house.
All of this took me over 3-4 days… except that I shared it all on my Instagram Stories in fast forward mode in 5 minutes!! A bunch of you messaged me saying “Don’t you get tired?!?” or ” I got tired watching your stories” LOL… Yes I was very tired. SO tired that I couldn’t lift my head up because I had strained my neck while taping the ceiling to avoid the dark paint to get on there. Very Very tired… But here we are: A room that is painted a glorious colour and lit up and ready for week 2!

So this week my goals are:
Make a trip to Ikea, and purchase the following:
- Alex Drawers
- Butcher block desktop
- Industriell Chair
- Monsterra Plant
- Look at other fun decor that they have and get some staging items.
I also have to order the office chair for the desk and that is from wayfair! I am so excited for this chair… I’ve been eyeing it since I have seen it, and eee just cant wait!

Here is the mood board again for your reference! I am excited to take y’all along to Ikea for my adventures, so keep following along on Instagram Stories!
See you all next week!
Hugs,
Areeba
