I love a good weekend DIY which is what farmhouse style is all about.. but have you ever been intimidated by a DIY? All the power tools got you breaking out in hives? ME TOO! ME TOO! But this DIY is unlike the rest. There are minimal tool requirements (you do need a saw to make some cuts but absolutely NOTHING else!) for this farmhouse inspired DIY.
I recently partnered with a wonderful company called Olde Wood Limited to transform my living room , by adding this beautiful DIY barn wood fireplace accent wall – what farmhouse dreams are made of! If you have been following along, or are new, you know I recently hand stencilled the fireplace surround (Check that out HERE). The next piece to this living room transformation was to bring my farmhouse dreams to life by adding in shiplap. But, I wanted something different.. with more character than faux shiplap.
No time to read now? No worries!

I partnered with Olde Wood Limited to try out and show case their incredible line of Barnwood 2 Go Planks that are essentially what I was looking for – the shiplap look but with built-in character!
Lets talk about these planks, shall we?
1.They are REAL barnwood!
Yes.. you read that right. They are the real deal from actual barns in the mid-west United States. Ever cross one on the side of the road, and wonder how good that wood would look in your house? Well… my friends – Olde Wood Limited heard your secret wishes and brings you exactly that! REAL BARN WOOD. Yes, take it in.. I still can’t believe it. But its true! The wood that they source goes through a thorough process to create gorgeous, high-quality wood planks.
2. Minimal Tools Required.. because the planks are PEEL and STICK.
Yup… Cue the angels singing. No nail gun, no wall adhesive or liquid nails required. Just take off the sticker and stick them on!
3. There are SO many colour options!
With over 8 different colour options, you can create any look you want! Here I used the Modern Whitecolour in the planks from the Modern Collection.
4. There are also several sizing options!
All boxes of Barnwood2Go come in a 6 foot long box and have pieces that are of assorted sizes within the box. So you get a mix and match of lengths of planks to create that true farmhouse feel. They also come in different widths of 4.5”, 5.5” and 6.5”. I used a 5.5 ” width box for our project and you could totally use different widths to mix and match to give it more character, and avoid any complicated cuts.
5. Installation is SO EASY!
Literally, this accent wall took us maybe one hour once we had figured out the lengths and where things were going to go. In total, from start (opening the box) to finishing, the whole project took us 2.5 hours! Which is basically a nap time, if you are a hustlin’ mama like I am 😉 There is a full installation guide and video on their website and they have a great FAQ page for all your questions.
I also shared a video and behind the scenes on my Instagram stories (also saved in my Instagram Highlights) if you want to see the process!

I have another fun reveal for you guys for this space and more details coming next week! Stay tuned for that! Lots of hugs until then!
