A Fun DIY – Chalk Painted Antique School Desks

DIY

Salam and hellooo friends!! Do you like a quick DIY? Well, thats this girl right here.

Are you also someone who hoards antique finds from years ago? No? Is that only me?? Hah! I have owned these antique school desks from a school in Waterloo, Ontario since the fall of 2016!! We purchased them for $60 and they are in such great shape with minimal rust and rotting of the wood. I have used them as porch decor last year and then put them back in the garage. So I decided to put my DIY skills to the test and gave these desks a quick face lift.

No time to read now? No problemmo!

DIY School Desks

I have been sharing more painting DIY’s in my Instagram stories and you guys have been obsessed with those! So, I thought I would share another fun DIY with you, involving my favourite furniture and chalk paint (totallyyy not sponsored!) by Country Chic Paint. I used this exact paint and wax combination for my night stands (Click HERE for that post). And I absolutely love how these desk turned out! I am not sure if they are staying in the spot I have for them, but they are very versatile and could even serve as night stands in a bedroom! If you don’t know what I am talking about, head on over to my Pinterest page to see some inspiration!

So the basic process is exactly the same as painting any piece of furniture with chalk paint (and as I described in the makeover for my night stands HERE) – First, I washed and cleaned these desks as they had tons of dust and spider webs from being in the garage for a while. Next, I completely dried them off and let them dry a bit in the sun as they are wood. Third, I painted them with 2-3 coats of Country Chic All-in-one-decor furniture paint in the colour Hurricane. Once they were fully dry, I used the Antiquing Wax from Country Chic Paint and buffed that in with a dry lint free cloth. And Voila! An easy, affordable makeover for an old piece of furniture.

DIY School Desks

Here is half the set of desks (the desk and chair attached half of the pair) styled in a corner in our home. Its not staying here forever… as I have big plans for this combination in our upcoming guest room makeover! Stay tuned to find out where these desks go for sure!

Hope you enjoyed this post and check out my Chalk Painting Instagram Story Highlights for a more detailed video on BTS for the painting process 🙂

See you all next time!

xoxo
