Hellooo and Salam!
Is it just me, or this week is SO dang busy!! Not just Eid prep, but getting the house ready and the last few days of Ramadan have left me so drain. To top it all off, my brother is graduating today! So we are all super excited for that!! The youngest of us three, graduating, MashAllah!
Anyhow, back to the post – I am not hosting Eid this year and I actually haven’t in a few years now. I am not complaining, but I do miss having people over etc. But the one thing I do do every year without fail is to have a breakfast table set up for when we come back from Eid Prayers.

Our typical Eid breakfast includes omelette, dum qeema (ground beef), kheer kharkhan (dried dates cooked in milk and cooled down to become a sweet dessert), seyvian (dry vermicelli), bukki (sindhi for cooked kidneys in a tomato masala). And everything obviously has multiple sides of doodh patti chai. This year, we are ditching the savoury stuff and actually adding in nihari, which I am quite famous for in my family. Seriously, I don’t understand why. But The key to making a killer nihari is to let it cook for 24-48 hours.
So to make sure we are all fed quickly after returning from Eid prayers, I set up our Eid table before hand! It was inspired by summer colours – my favourite combination of vibrant blues and cheery yellows. I am a big proponent of having a good staple supply of your decor basics which I have built up over the past 2 years and then using those before going out to buy anything new. Everything in this tablescape is stuff I already had and have collected over the past few years.

[…] I chose to keep this tablescape super simple and easy, and was very much inspired by a recent initiative I was part of: The Low Waste Eid Gift Guide. I chose to use propogated pothos in thrifted jars as the centrepiece, because I wanted to avoid going out to purchase flowers. I also used canvases by Sehar Shehzad that I have had for around 8-9 years and you have seen them in my Eid Tablescape from 2018! […]
