Okay okay before you tell me I am too old for a birthday party.. let me tell you that I am ONLY 29 years young. And age is only a number and insert any other cliche’s you may wish 😉

My birthday is always a big deal to me for some odd reason. I love to celebrate with those near and dear to me and as life has gone on, I have really come to value who I give my time and energy to. Whether it is meeting for a coffee or setting up a brunch with friends, I have started to really narrow my commitments down to those who truly matter and have stuck around through thick and thin.

So this year, I decided to honour these exact people, some of whom I have known for over a decade. I threw a favourite things birthday party inspired by the one and only Joanna Gaines – BUT there was an important twist! A traditional favourite things party is where everyone brings their favourite thing (in enough quantity) such that everyone takes home one of everyones favourite thing! But… the twist on mine was that, I showered my bestest friends with some of my recent favourite things (within a reasonable budget ofcourse!).

These included some necessary items for SELF-CARE.. which I am really digging lately.

First up, everyone got a Blanket Scarf to stay warm in our never ending Canadian winter. I tied these up with twine and added little chalkboard pegs with a hand lettered phrase for some cuteness 😉 They also come in different colours on amazon in case blue is not your jam 😉

Next up, another recent favourite of mine is this White Barn Rose scented candle in this beautiful blush pink (perfect for spring!) from Bath and Body Works! I use it in both my own room and bedroom and am OBSESSED! The rose scent is sold out, but this Cactus Bloom scent which I also purchased is INCREDIBLE TOO!

Lastly, I added to the self care theme by purchasing these Shea Butter Bath Gift Cubes from The Body Shop –  I wrapped them using brown craft paper and glued on some stem clippings from Micheal’s to add some spring cheer!

Needless to say, my friends ended up showering me with so many gifts, words cannot even describe how loved and spoilt I felt! This was literally the smallest thing that I could do for them for all their love and support along the way.
