Helloo!
Welcome friends! I am so excited to be part of the lovely Canadian Bloggers Home Tour hosted by the talented Shannon of Home Made Lovely and Christina, over at The DIY Mommy! You must check them out and their homes!
If you are coming here from my friend Christina’s page over at The DIY Mommy, WELCOME! I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday and are enjoying this beautiful weeklong set of inspiring home tours for Spring!
If you are new to my page, let me introduce myself. I am Areeba! I am a full time PhD student in Clinical Psychology and blog on the side as a hobby and creative outlet. Fun fact – I study the brain basis of creativity in aging.. so this blog is a unique side of my life and in a way informed by research 😉
Anyhow, I won’t keep you waiting but lets get this home tour rolling!
My theme for this year is SIMPLIFY and have a place for everything and a thing for everyplace. I have worked very hard since the beginning of this year to take tabs of my home decor, purge and ONLY keep the things I love and have curated over the past three years.
Lets start in our entryway!
These beautiful double doors were a splurge when we purchased our house and serve both as providing privacy and also beautiful indirect light!
This little nook was a recent project that my husband and I (read: mostly my husband and father in law) undertook with the help of Black and Decker Canada – You can check that post out HERE. The gallery wall items are a mix from Hobby Lobby, Home Sense and from small shops!
we have a second console as you walk in – which was another DIY by mostly by husband hehe. You can read all about how we converted an old singer sewing machine base into this live wood edge table HERE. Again, here the mint blue (as you can tell #ilovemintblue haha!) carries on and I use items that I love and have curated over time including both new and old finds. Some vintage mccoy pots paired with some painted terracota and spring greens, gives this little area much needed warmth and farmhouse charm. The star of this whole vignette is obviously this hand painted Mihraab inspired by the Isfahan Mosque in Iran (or altar) by the talented Anam K Arts. She no longer makes these, but you can buy a print reproduction of this piece, if you like! It would love beautiful framed in your home!
Lets keep walking along, shall we?
As you walk down this hallway, you see our dining room on the left hand side and another favourite little corner of my home.
I recently shared a quick DIY for this Farmhouse Scroll above the mint blue console table – it is SO easy you guys and will cost you maybe $10 if you need to purchase all the supplies. You can check this post out HERE!
If you peek to the left, here is our dining room – which is the darkest room in the house.. and you wont believe the things I have to do to get decent pictures of this room haha! The shutters framing the window are vintage finds that I repainted in Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and added a quick DIY book page magnolia wreath to (Check that out HERE if you would like.. another quick and easy Saturday night DIY haha! you see a trend here?)
Welcome to our dining room!
I kept this tablescape super simple and paired it with my Hearth and Hand table runner from last year (neutral runners work great for all seasons!) and vintage mason jars and reproduction seltzer bottles. I added faux tulip steps from my spring decor last year – because again, I am all about the budget friendly, simple decor! If you notice here, I added some books that I covered in brown craft paper (left over from the scroll) and some cute floral wrapping paper (again left over find in my craft closet) to add height and interest. This is my favourite and easiest tablescape of all time and it looks beautiful, in my honest opinion.
Our dining room has a nook where this vintage buffer stands. This was a refurbished piece I purchased from one of my vintage dealer friends 😉 Its in a strange location, which makes it SO hard to get a full photo. This is the best I could do!
So there you have it friends! My entryway, hallway and dining room all spruced up for spring! I wont share my living room, because thats still a project in works with some possible exciting changes coming up in the next few weeks! I also shared our master bedroom HERE and that is not changing this spring – because.. life, you know?
Now I would love for you to head on over to my friend Jennifer’s page over at the Rambling Renovators and check out her spring home refresh! I hope you found this post inspiring and enjoy all the home tours this week listed below. Also, make sure to stop by on Instagram for more DIY, home decor and life ramblings!
Hugs!
