Winter Wonderland Entryway Decor

Home Decor

Happy Monday friends - aren't we glad its ALMOST over?!? Well, I definitely am! I wanted to dedicate a whole post to my simple, easy and inexpensive Winter Wonderland Entryway Decor - I shared a sneak peak on Friday on Instagram (go check that out here) and how I struggle with decor around this time because of its all about christmas (Check out my 2016 Winter Home Tour HERE)! I mean, thats awesome for folks who celebrate Christmas.. but since we are Muslim, Christmas is not part of our religious holidays. So.. I am always left in a decor dilemma, while everyone is busy putting up their ten thousand flocked trees in every room.. I am left wondering what will I be putting up?

So this year, for our entryway, I just thought.. hmm.. holidays are about family, am i right? And i mean, even though we don't celebrate christmas, because we get stat holidays, we always do something together as a family - whether its going out, or watching movies or having a big dinner party (because thats how brown people celebrate stat holidays 😉 ) - we always hang out with family! So for the entryway, I wanted to bring in the holiday spirit indoors - a window pane, draped by a tree bough with sparkly snowflakes (I used snowflake ornaments.. there are snowflakes on those ornaments), with a window box filled with snow (the cotton..) - I mean, I went with what I had to recreate that look and essence of winter and added this amazing sign by Devenie Designs which captures that element of the holiday season

Happiness not in another place but this place, not for another hour but this hour.

So.. kept I kept it super simple - because I am all about keeping it simple AND affordable (grad student budget right here) - I used cotton stems I owned from my "staple" foliage collection, free silver birch logs thanks to a friend, and this tree clipping which came with MANY more from our grocery store for $6.99! The snowflake candle holders were also last years purchase - The only new thing I purchased were the ornaments from Homesense. I am a BIG believer in buying things that can transcend a given season - especially given how frequently I get the itch to switch things around. I mean, when that tree branch dies, I have to come up with something new right? So, in total if you count the tree branch and ornaments, I spent $20 (including tax!) - So, my take home message is - I challenge you to come up with a cute vignette/decor inspiration in whatever your budget is. For me, my seasonal budget usually is $100 because I can comfortably shell that out and not feel bad. In the decor world, thats tiny! But, you do what works for YOU.. because YOU are awesome!

Also... decorating is always more fun when I have a tiny helper with me 🙂

Until next time sweet friends!
