Hi friends!! For those of you who follow along on my crazy Instagram stories you know that I talked about my skin last week and how incredibly DRY it is! I have dry patches every where and one of the things that works well for me is exfoliating my skin with some home made sugar scrub to keep it feeling soft and moisturized. I also have a ridiculous set of allergies so I thought I would try making a body scrub at home so I can get rid of some of the chemicals that may be affecting my skin. By no means, am I a skin expert.. this is something that works for me to help my dry skin but would also be great to use as a bath product to spoil yourself 🙂
Also, it was totally also an excuse to use the lavender buds I purchased on my recent visit to a lavender farm with my little mini assistant.Â
What you need
1/2 cup Coconut Oil
1/4-1/2 teaspoon Lavender Essential Oil (or really any Essential Oil you have on hand – Â I love lavender so I used this)
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar – Straight from the kitchen, in my case from my rae dunn cannister!
1/2 tablespoon Dried Lavender Buds (skip these if you are using any other oil, but if you are using lemon essential oil for example, you can add some lemon zest)
A Mason Jar or an air tight container
What you need to do
Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl – Don’t heat the coconut oil as it can melt the sugar and that will take away from the texture of the scrub
Store in an airtight container and use!
Voila! Easiest DIY ever, am I right??
You can use this scrub in the shower and let me tell you, it makes you skin feel soooo smooth and soft!! Just massage it on to your legs and arms or even your face for a quick exfoliation, and the sugar will essentially rub off any dry skin and the coconut oil will moisturize your skin. If you are using this for your face, I don’t recommend adding in lavender buds because they don’t feel so great on the face.
There you have it! One of my go-to DIY’s that keeps my skin mostly in check 🙂 Hope you enjoy and come say hi on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest!
xoxo
