Hello everyone and happy spring! Today I wanted to share my inspiration for my daughter’s spring nursery. She was born last year in May and this room was never fully finished as her crib was in our room up until January. Which did not allow me to get everything put up and in its place. But now that she has moved into her room (mmm finally!), I decided to add the final touches and try to take some decent photos. But you know how it goes right? She snuck in into some of the photos hehe.
A little back story here – we did not find out the gender when we were pregnant, so the nursery was going to be neutral with white furniture. But with a little caveat.. this mama wanted a chandelier as girly as that may be. My husband thought I was bonkers because according to him, who puts a chandelier in the nursery? But, will you believe me if I said that this guy put each crystal on the chandelier with his own hands, more carefully than I could. Also confession: Liyana’s (our daughter) room is the ONLY room that’s been freshly painted across our house after we got it from the builder… just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Gray walls, white furniture and a pretty chandelier.. this mama’s instinct was that it was a girl – in fact I went and bought a 0-3 month sized dress when I was 11 weeks pregnant ( it had an infinite return policy haha.. just in case you know?). Despite my instinct, I tried to keep it neutral and added the girly touches after she was born. Will you be surprised if you see a certain specific colour pop up in her room..? its all in the name, friends 🙂
These drawer shelves were added more recently (late last year..) – I found these drawers on the curb and picked them up. A quick coat of chalk paint spruced them right up. The drawer bottom is covered with scrap book paper I picked up at Michaels and used a glue gun to attack to the drawer base. They are a cute and unexpected pop of colour in this room and are one of my favourite impromptu DIY’s for this Spring Nursery. 🙂
And obviously… no nursery tour is complete without a picture of the baby who’s nursery it is. I had to put her in the crib to get photo’s of the other side haha!
This little corner is between two doors (one to the closet and one to the bathroom) and I wanted to have some reading shelves in here. I took some Ikea spice racks and painted them to multi purpose as book shelves above some toy storage. I tried to find the spice racks to link them – but seems like they have been discontinued. You can also use the picture ledges as a great book storage system in a play room or a nursery.
There is also a mini gallery wall next to the window which has some cute pieces on it from HomeSense, gifts and a super cute DIY I made from cards I received at my baby shower.
This is the cute DIY – its basically painted canvas from the dollar store and I line the top and bottom with some crochet lace ribbon ( also from the dollar store!). Then I cut out hearts using a heart shaped cookie cutter (guess from where… dollar store!) from some of my favourite cards and simply glued them onto the canvas. Voila! Cute Spring Nursery art ready!
And that’s it! This is definitely one of my favourite rooms in our home and I am looking forward to my daughter enjoying it more as she grows up.. until we change it into a big girl room 🙂
